10-member JTF to identify those spreading ‘fake news’!

ISLAMABAD: A 10-member Joint-Task-Force (JTD) will identify individuals and groups who are propagating ‘misleading news’ by means of local and foreign-based Social Media platforms attempting to discredit the state in general and security forces in particular.

PM Office noted: “This campaign is aimed at creating serious law and order situation in the country and foment provincialism and ethnic cleavages for specific political interests“. The panel has been instructed to furnish their findings in ten days.

Moreover, as part of initial amendments to the cyber-crime law, the Federal Govt has proposed 5-year incarceration and a fine of ten lakh rupees for those who are deliberately propagate fake news.
