15-member Spanish rock climber team arrives to conquer K-2

SKARDU: A 15 member Spanish rock climbers team including three women have started their journey towards the base camp of 8611 metres second highest rock of the World K-2.

The world’s famous Spanish mountain climber Alex Taxikon leading his team will reach at the base camp of K-2 after six days by-foot journey and then they will wait for friendly weather to move forward to attempt ski descend K-2.

Commissioner Baltistan Hamza Salak has seen off the Spanish team with best wishes.

Earlier in a briefing to Spanish team, he said that government has relaxed the visa policy for foreign tourists and ensured the access to other tourist places.

It has been ensured that maximum foreign tourists may visit here as it was playing an effective role in highlighting the soft image of Pakistan worldwide.

Alex Taxikon said that Pakistan was not a new place for them and they were inspired by it’s beauty and hospitality.

“We are the brand ambassador for the Pakistani tourism,” Taxikon remarked.
