FUUAST organizes 1st Pak-Polish Int’l Scientific Conference

ISLAMABAD: The 1st Pakistan-Polish Int’l Scientific Conference, organized by the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology – FUUAST’s I.R Dept, was inaugurated on Monday (5th of Dec 2022) here at Governor House.

Addressing the ladies and gentlemen in the audience, President Dr. Arif Alvi, who was the Chief Guest of the event, maintained that the borders had now become irrelevant because the challenges were going to be across borders, therefore, the approach should also be adapted accordingly.

President Alvi noted that today some sort of morality-based world order was required rather than one based on vested interests.

Harboring on the subject of global warming, President Dr. Arif Alvi pointed out that the effects of climate change also crossed borders.

KARACHI: President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi said that cooperation in present times was no longer dependent on travel documents like visa because nowadays people stay in one country while they work for another.

Appreciating FUUAST for organizing such knowledge-sharing and collaborative platform for the students and academicians of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi held that the conference theme Pakistan-Poland Relations: Challenges & Opportunities in the Changing World Order, was very important.

Speaking about the growth of information technology , he said that the IT sector had proved that even a small company could make a big impact.

Earlier, in his welcome address, sharing details of 1st Pakistani-Polish International Scientific Conference, Chairman IR department Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti told that the Conference (that would be held on 6-7 Dec at IBA city campus here) had been jointly organized by FUUAST’s IR department and the Institute of Political Science, University of Warmia and Mazury Poland.

Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti said that the conference aimed to provide an opportunity for academicians, professionals and students to exchange innovative ideas on the emerging fields between both states.

Chairman IR department Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti pointed out that it was the 1st conference being organized with Polish University under MoU signed between Federal Urdu University (FUUAST) and the University of Warmia and Mazury Poland last year.

In his address, Director of the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Warmia and Mazury- Poland Prof. Arkadiusz Zukowski reiterating that FUUAST and the University of Warmia and Mazury – Poland inked an agreement of mutual cooperation last year stated: “We are engaged in research and educational works at international level and we want to cooperate in various fields”.

Prof. Arkadiusz Zukowski held that the topic of the Conference was impressive and termed it a kind of scientific diplomacy.

Acting Vice Chancellor FUUAST, Prof Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin noted that Poland (considered as gateway to Europe) was an important country in Europe located at a significant geographical position.

Prof Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin said that the relations between Pakistan and Poland needed to be further strengthened and this conference would be a breakthrough in political, diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

Acting Vice Chancellor said that FUUAST was also providing guidance and counseling to the students who would learn a lot from the Conference.

Executive Director Institute of Business Administration (IBA Karachi), Akber Zaidi pointing out that the IBA – Karachi was also a public sector university like the FUUAST said: “We are committed to cooperate with other institutes for promotion of education and research activities.

“We feel pleasure to share with all the universities what the IBA has achieved.”

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Acting Vice Chancellor FUUAST, Prof Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin, Director of the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Warmia and Mazury Prof. Arkadiusz Zukowski, Rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury Poland Jerzy A Przyborowski, Executive Director IBA Karachi, Akber Zaidi, Dr. Faisal Javed of FUUAST’s IR department, Assistant Professor FUUAST’s IR department Dr. Rizwana Jabin and other notables.

The conference is jointly being organized by FUUAST, University of Warmia and Mazury – Poland, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan along with other partners including IBA, Area Study Centre for Europe (ASCE) University of Karachi.
