THE HAGUE: ICJ in a landmark ruling on Friday (24th May, 2024) has ordered Israel to stop military operations in Rafah.
ICJ has ordered that Israel must immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah Governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.
ICJ has also ordered Israel to keep the Rafah crossing into Gaza open for the unhindered provision of humanitarian aid. Court has demanded release of all hostages held by Hamas.This might augment the global pressure on Israel that has killed 35000 Palestinians in the last seven months.
