NEW YORK: Captain Ilcehin Pehlivan, the 59-year-old pilot of Turkish Airlines’ Airbus A350, who was flying TK 204 from Seattle to Istanbul, lost consciousness mid-flight, as a result the co-pilot made an emergency landing but he died during the flight here on Wednesday (9th Oct, 2024).
Deceased Captain Ilcehin Pehlivan, who was associated with the Turkish Airlines since 2007, was declared medically fit last March.
Media coordinator of Turkish Airlines Yahya Ustun took to the Social Media to state: “During the flight of our Airbus A350 with tail number TC-LGR, on route TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul, Captain Ilcehin Pehlivan lost consciousness.
“After initial medical assistance onboard proved unsuccessful, the cockpit crew, consisting of one captain and one co-pilot, decided to execute an emergency landing. Unfortunately, our captain passed away before landing.”
