AMSTERDAM: Five Israeli sports aficionados got injured as anti-Semitic clashes erupted here on Friday (8th November, 2024) when Ajax team won a Europa League football match beating Maccabi Tel-Aviv team.
Taking to the X (Twitter) Dutch PM Dick Schoof denounced attack on Israelis and told that he had spoken to Benjamin Netanyahu to assure him that the perpetrators would be tracked down and prosecuted. According to details the skirmish took place outside Johan Cruyff Arena when Ajax won the match 5-0.
The animosity was brewing for the last few days as hundreds of Israelis entered Amsterdam, demonstrated with their flags in the city taking a Palestinian flag off a poll. Dutch Police arrested 57 people in this respect while Israel has sent aircraft to evacuate its citizens.
