KHARAN-NOSHKI HIGHWAY (Balochistan): Unidentified militants attacked Levies’ checkpoint here on Friday (29th Nov, 2024) and after overpowering them seized their weapons and other paraphernalia.
Following the check-post attack the gunmen moved towards the Reko Zarin Jungle where Gandari Dam is being built along the Kharan- Noshki Highway and after torching the camp there, stole a vehicle parked there, kidnapped six workers hailing from Quetta and KP.
Sources have insinuated that the banned militant outfits had been taking extortion money from the entities engaged in commercial activities in order to finance their operations. Those who continued their business sans paying the demanded amount had to face their wrath in the form of murders and destruction.
It seems that the six workers abducted from the Dam construction site face death. It may be recalled that on 13th April nine workers on NA-40 near Noshki were murdered by the unidentified militants.
According to DC Noshki, Habibullah Musakhel, a dozen unidentified militants boarded a Taftan-bound passenger bus after blockading the Highway N-40 in the vicinity of Sultan Charhai near Noshki and abducted nine voyagers after segregating those hailing from Punjab (Wazirabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujranwala).
Bodies of the kidnapped Punjabi workers, that were found under a nearby bridge after 90 minutes, were transported to Quetta, Noshki Civil Hospital. Their Namaz-e-Janaza have been offered at Police Line here. Meanwhile, Province’s CM, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has ordered transportation of victims’ bodies to their hometowns by means of PDMA and Edhi ambulances.
It is pertinent to mention here that eight personnel of Levies Force, who failed to stop the kidnapping, were taken into custody. At the same blockage, militant’s shot at a car (that, instead of stopping attempted to force its way through the gunmen’s cordon,) killing two occupants who turned out to be locals. FC and local LEAs are in the process of combing the area to trace the culprits.
