PLAINS (GEORGIA): James Earl Carter Jr (Jimmy Carter), the longest-lived president of USA, peacefully called it a day on 29th Dec, 2024, at his home here surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: “My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love. My brothers, sister, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs. The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honouring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs,” said his son Chip Carter.
Nobel Prize-winning 39th President of the USA (from 1977 to 1981) Jimmy Carter was born on 1st day of October, 2024 in a modest family engaged in farming peanuts. In his biography he mentioned that as a child he used to pick sacks of cow dung to spread on the fields. He attended US Naval Academy and later served as an officer. He entered politics in 1960s and became Governor of Georgia in 1971. As president he mend the deteriorating economy, handled the Iran hostage crisis and brokered the historic Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt.
Domestically, Carter faced challenges like energy crisis and inflation and focused on energy policy, environmental conservation, and human rights. Once out of White House he concentrated on humanitarian work and in 1982 founded Carter Center in order to promote democracy, ameliorate the state of health the world over and resolve international conflicts. He was associated with project Habitat for Humanity building homes for the underprivileged.

Taking to the X President Joe Biden stated: “Over six decades, Jill and I had the honor of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear fried as well.”
Joe Biden directed that 9th of January will be a national day of mourning throughout the country for Jimmy Carter: “I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President James Earl Carter.”

In his book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid, Jimmy Carter penned what was pertinent for peace to Israel while not harming the dignity of the Palestinian citoyens.
