MOSCOW: Alexander Martemyanov, a freelancer contributing to state daily Izvestia, has been killed in a drone strike near the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.
According to Izvestia, Alexander Martemyanov, was targeted by the military of Ukraine as he alongwith five Media Workers were returning from covering shelling in Gorlivka. His confrère got injured in the attack. By means of its Telegram Channel Izvestia held: “The Ukrainian army launched a drone strike on a civilian car carrying Izvestia’s freelance correspondent Alexander Martemyanov…The car was located far from the line of contact”.
Terming the attack a deliberate murder Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said it was another brutal crime in a series of bloody atrocities carried out by the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky in order to eliminate Kyiv’s ideological opponents: “All those responsible for the crime against Russian journalists will be identified and will face deserved and inevitable punishment.”
