MOSCOW: Ukraine has launched US-supplied ATACMS missiles and UK-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles deep inside Russia on Tuesday (14th Jan, 2025).
While Russia says it has successfully shot down the United States and United Kingdom supplied missiles, Kyiv claims that was its most massive attack of the war till date. Russia vowed to respond to the attack. Ukraine further claimed that the overnight attack was a painful blow to Moscow’s ability to wage war as chemical plants and ammunition depots (hundreds of kilometres from the border) were destroyed across several regions.
It may be recalled that on 4th Jan too Russia had warned Ukraine of a retaliation after shooting down a US-provided ATACMS fired by Kyiv a day earlier. (In 2024 President Joe Biden had allowed Kyiv to use ATMCMS against Moscow.) “On January 3, an attempt was made from Ukrainian territory to launch a missile strike against the Belgorod region using US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles. These actions by the Kyiv regime, which is supported by Western curators, will be met with retaliation“.
