Green Shirts beat S. Africa in the tri-nation series

NATIONAL STADIUM (KARACHI): Pakistan successfully chased the 353 runs target set by Proteas in the 3rd match of the tri-nation ODI series played here on Wednesday (12th Feb, 2025).

South Africa, after winning the toss, has elected to bat first against Pakistan. Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled two Proteas while Naseem Shah and Khushdil Shah sent one each back to the pavilion. Thanks to Heinrich Klaasen’s 87 runs off 56 balls plus half tons from the Proteas Skipper Temba Bavuma and Matthew Breetzke, the visitors managed to muster a total of 352 runs up. From Pakistan’s side Agha scored 134 off 103 balls. Rizwan’s bat yielded 122 runs off 128 deliveries.

Since Proteas were beaten by Kiwis in the 2nd match of the tri-nation series it is a must-win game for South African Cricket team. It may be recalled that the New Zealand’s Cricket team had beaten South Africa by 6 wickets in the second match of the tri-nation ODI series played in Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore) on Monday (10th Feb, 2025). South African team, that opted to bat first, lost four wickets to score 304 runs in fifty overs. Black Caps successfully chased the target of 305 runs set by New Zealand for the loss of 4 wickets and 8 balls to spare. Kane Williamson’s century and Devon Conway’s 97 runs off 107 balls contributed enormously towards Kiwis’ victory. New Zealand, by defeating South Africa, qualified for the final of Tri-Nation ODI series.
