NANKANA SAHIB: Thousands of Sikhs (including 6500 from India) observed Vaisakhi (harvest festival that marks the commencement of Sikh New Year).
The principal Vaisakhi ceremony was held here, the birthplace of the founder of the Sikh faith, Baba Guru Nanak. Gurdwara Janam Asthan is one of nine sacred places located in Nankana Sahib.

* Vaisakhi/ Baisakhi marks the first day of the month of Vaisakh (in the Indian national calendar, Vaisakha is the second month of the year) that is observed on 13th or 14th April annually.
