Balochistan Turmoil: Bomb attack at BC vehicle

MASTUNG: An IED attack on a vehicle transporting Balochistan Constabulary (BC) men (from Kohat by means of RTC) was carried out in Shamsabad area here Tuesday (15th April, 2025) claiming lives of three security personnel.

According to sources the 19 wounded BC personnel (two gravely) are being treated in Quetta’s Medical facility. Emergency has been imposed in Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast. Bomb attacks, particularly targeting LEA personnel, are regularly carried out by militants after brief intervals. It may be recalled that on 27th March three people died and twenty-one got injured (4 gravely) as a Police vehicle was targeted by unknown bombers at the Barech Market on the Double Road Quetta. The injured were provided treatment at the Civil Hospital’s Trauma Center.

On 15th March, a remote-controlled blast near a Balochistan ATF vehicle at Karani road claimed live of a policeman and injured six others. LEA personnel, who reached the site of explosion figured out that 3kgs of explosives were used. A remote control device was used to explode 3 kgs explosive material injuring ten (including a FC soldier) at Jan Muhammad Road here on 28th Feb. The target of the attack was a FC convoy. As a result of the blast one vehicle carrying FC personnel was damaged. Injured were treated at Civil Hospital’s Trauma Center.

A suicide bomb attack carried out by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) at the Railway Station Booking Office Quetta on 9th Nov, 2024, claimed 27 lives (of civilians as well as personnel of LEAs). The suicide bomber detonated 10 kgs of explosive material. His remains were sent to a lab in order to figure out the identity. Militants, who blocked the highway between Pasni and Ormara here overnight, offloaded the voyagers from a Karachi-bound passenger bus, shot four Punjabi workers after identifying them by means of NICs and kidnapped three others.
