Putin, Witkoff discuss US efforts to end Ukraine War

KREMLIN: After three-hour long brainstorming session to figure out how to end the Ukraine War (now well into its 4th year) here on Friday (25th April, 2025), Vladimir Putin and (US President Trump’s envoy) Steve Witkoff stated that the two sides’ positions had moved closer.

Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said that one of the scenarios could be to give up territory for the sake of peace. Meanwhile, commenting on US President Donald Trump’s remarks that ‘Crimea will stay with Russia’, Zelensky said that the peninsula belonged to Ukraine.

Earlier, on 14th April, while blaming Volodymyr Zelensky for commencing the war with Russia Donald Trump maintained: “You don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles.”

While Trump’s envoy and Putin were pndering over possibilities of stopping the Urkaine War, Lt. General Yaroslav Moskalik of Russian Armed Forces lost his life when an IED planted on a Volkswagen Golf exploded here (in the suburb of Moscow) Friday (25th April, 2025).

According to details when Yaroslav Moskalik (deputy head of the main operational directorate of the military’s General Staff), who lived in the area, was walking near Volkswagen Golf (not registered to him), the IED was detonated remotely.

Sources have revealed that the explosion had claimed live of a second person too. So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility, yet savants at the helm of affairs insinuate that the modus operandi indicates towards Ukraine.

It is pertinent to mention here that US, that donated 69 billion dollars to Ukraine in military aid from 2022 till 2024, has stopped its support from 3rd March, after the Oval Office Trump-Zelenskyy verbal skirmish.

Due to the pause in support from USA, that went into effect immediately, weapons worth hundreds of millions of dollars did not reach Ukraine. All other 9 donors doled out a total of 56.8 billion dollars:

1) Germany ($13.6 billion),

2) UK ($10.8 billion),

3) Denmark ($8.1 billion),

4) Netherlands ($6.3 billion),

5) Sweden ($5 billion),

6) Poland ($3.9 billion),

7) France ($3.8 billion),

8) Canada ($2.8 billion), &

9) Finland ($2.5 billion).

Ukrainian President Zelensky, who was very close to USA under the Biden Administration, has been termed as a dictator without elections by Donald Trump here on Wednesday (19th Feb 2025). “Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the US and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to settle.”

Reacting to the US President Donald Trump’s comments, Zelenskyy maintained that Trump administration must respect the truth regarding the Ukraine-Russia war that entered 4th year in Feb, 2925. It is pertinent to mention here that following the Trump-Putin telephonic conversation and the parleys between US and Russian delegations in Riyadh on 18th Feb, Zelensky angered Trump by saying that he was living in a disinformation space. Zelensky was responding to Trumps statement that Kyiv could have made a deal earlier to end the war, but not Russia.

Trump maintained that Ukraine should not receive any more aid without getting anything in return. Following the 4-hour long rendezvous in Riyadh on 18th February, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio maintained that the meeting was the first step of a long and difficult journey to ending the war in Ukraine. It may be recalled that one of the promises Trump made during his campaign was that he wanted the war to end ASAP (even it it means giving up terrain to Moscow).
