Canada Polls: Voters rally against Trump

OTTAWA: Prime Minister Mark Carney, proclaiming the election victory of his Liberal Party on Tuesday (28th April, 2025) pointed towards Trump’s threats vis-à-vis annexation and tariffs, that had outraged the Canadians.

Mark Carney warned the citoyens: “America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country…President Trump is trying to break us, so that America can own us; that will never … ever happen, but we also must recognise the reality that our world has fundamentally changed.”

 Former governor Bank of Canada/Bank of England, 59-year-old Mark Carney, has earlier too said, in response to Trump’s proposal apropos making Canada the 51st state of USA: “America is not Canada. Canada will never ever be part of America in any way, shape or form…If they succeeded, they would destroy our way of life.”

Liberals will form the next government while Conservatives (who have accepted defeat) will form a strong opposition in the Parliament. Reacting to the nouvelle, China stated that it was willing to develop relations with Canada on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.

PM Narendra Modi (whose country’s terms remained strained due to the murder(s) of Sikh separatists, held: “India and Canada are bound by shared democratic values, a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, and vibrant people-to-people ties…I look forward to working with you to strengthen our partnership and unlock greater opportunities for our people.”

British PM Keir Starmer while felicitating him said: “Congratulations to Mark Carney on your election victory. The UK and Canada are the closest of allies, partners and friends… welcome your leadership on international issues, and I know we will continue to work closely on defence, security, trade and investment.”

Joe Biden, the immediate past president of USA said: “I congratulate Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party on their success in Canada’s election. I’m confident Mark will be a strong leader for the fundamental values and interests Canadians and Americans share.”

French President Emmanuel Macron taking to the Social Media, maintained: “You embody a strong Canada in the face of the great challenges of our time…France looks forward to further strengthening the friendship that binds our countries.”

Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO posted on Social Media: “Canada is a valued member of NATO…I look forward to working together to build an even stronger, fairer Alliance – investing more in defence and ramping up industrial production so we have what we need to stay safe.”
