VATICAN: When a hundred plus Roman Catholic cardinals, during a clandestine rendezvous, elected (American) Francis Prevost Pope Leo XIV as their 267th leader, white smoke emerged from the chimney perched atop the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican on Thursday (8th May, 2025).
US President Donald Trump took to the Social Media to congratulate the new Pope: “Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope. It is such an honour to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement , and what a great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment”!.
