Mexican Naval Ship Crashes Into Brooklyn Bridge

NEW YORK CITY: Cuauhtémoc, the 297-foot-long Mexican naval training ship crashed into Brooklyn Bridge here Saturday (17th May, 2025) 8:26 pm as a result two of its occupants lost their lives.

Mayor Eric Adams took to the X to inform Sunday (18th May, 2025): “Earlier tonight, the Mexican Navy ship Cuauhtémoc lost power and crashed into the Brookly Bridge. At this time, of the 277 on board, 19 sustained injuries, 2 of which remain in critical condition, and 2 more have sadly passed away from their injuries.”

The navy of Mexico stated on X that the Cuauhtémoc had been on a training maneouver when it collided with the Brooklyn Bridge: “The Ministry of the Navy reaffirms its commitment to the safety of its personnel, transparency in its operations and excellence in the training of future officers of the Mexican Navy.”

Wilson Aramboles, NY Police Chief of Special Operations, while talking to journalists at a Presser told that the ship lost power at 8.20 pm forcing it to head for the Bridge. He further informed that a number of cadets perched at the sails were wounded due to the impact.
