MOSCOW/WHITE HOUSE: President Donald Trump had a 2-hour-long telephonic conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Monday (19th June, 2025) during which they discussed modalities of truce with Ukraine.
Putin termed his talk with Trump as frank and substantive. Informing about his position on the ceasefire he said: “The US president expressed his position on the secession of hostilities, ceasefire, and from my end, I have emphasized that Russia stands for peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. We just need to outline the most effective routes of moving towards peace.” He thanked Trump for US support in “resuming the direct talks between Russia and Ukraine.” Meanwhile, Trump also talked to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
