BRUSSELS: Bewildered by the US’s recent change of global policies, under the SAFE borrowing scheme, the EU has formally approved a new €150 billion loan programme Tuesday (27th May, 2025) enabling Ukraine to rearm itself.
The Safe borrowing scheme (backed by European Union’s central budget,) was proposed by Brussels in the month of March 2025. While the text was finalised by the member states of the Union, final approval came from 26 countries during a meeting of European ministers.
