KABUL: Following the amelioration of relations, the Afghan Govt on Friday (30th May, 2025) has granted the Pakistani chargé d’affaires status of Ambassador.
Islamabad had repeatedly pointed out that Afghanistan-based militants had been infiltrating to carry out attacks against Pakistan and requested Kabul to contain the menace. A China mediated trilateral huddle of FMs from Pakistan and Afghanistan in Beijing this month had contributed enormously towards bringing the two neighbors close.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi maintained: “Afghanistan and Pakistan expressed clear willingness to elevate diplomatic relations and agreed in principle to exchange ambassadors as soon as possible. China welcomed this and will continue to provide assistance for the improvement of Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.”

Saeedullah Saeed, a senior Taliban Commander, said those fighting Pakistani forces could not be called Mujahids and the act could not be called Jihad. According to him, attacks conducted by groups sans Ameer’s consent were acts of terrorism against the laws of Shariat and the Afghan Emirate: “Those who fight with foreign countries while joining different groups, cannot be called a …Mujahid!”
