Indian General on downing of planes by Pakistan

NEW DELHI: India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, while attempting to dismiss Pakistan’s claim apropos shooting down six IAF jets insinuated that details were less important than the tactical insights gained.

Bloomberg TV, that interviewed Anil Chauhan, stated: “India’s military confirmed for the first time it lost an unspecified number of fighter jets in clashes with Pakistan in May” (2025).

India attacked six sites in Punjab and AJK killing 26 (civilian men, women, children) and injuring 46: thirteen were slain in Ahmedpur SharkiaMasjid Subhanullah; 3 killed in Muzaffarabad, Masjid Bilal; an eighteen-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl lost their lives in Kotli, Masjid Abbas; a mother-daughter duo were injured in Muridke, Masjid Ummul Qura. Indian attack also damaged Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project’s Noseri Dam. 

In retaliation to late night attacks Pakistan Air Force jets shot down Pakistan has shot a number of IAF fighter jets (including  Rafale,  Su30MKI, MIG-29 Fulcrum + drones and quad-copters), destroyed an Indian brigadier head quarters and returned to the base sans any damage; Pakistan military also captured numerous Indian soldiers.

Donald Trump said while talking to Media at White House: “It’s a shame, we just heard about it. I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past. They’ve been fighting for a long time.”

“I know both very well. I want to see them work it out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “I want to see them stop.”

“If I can do anything to help, I will be there,” the US president adds.

US Department of State maintained“Earlier this afternoon, Secretary Rubio spoke to the national security advisors from India and Pakistan. He urged both to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation”. Turkish foreign ministry warned of the risk of all-out war: “Last night’s attack by India poses the risk of all-out war. We condemn this provocative move and attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

German foreign ministry called to prevent any escalation and protect civilians. Qatar, asked both sides to resolve the crisis via diplomacy. Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares expressed his condolences over the loss of civilian lives and conveyed that Spain was monitoring the situation with utmost seriousness. Emphasising dialogue, restraint, and diplomacy in addressing the crisis, José Manuel Albares offered his country’s good offices.

Pakistan’s FO spokesman held: “India’s act of aggression has resulted in martyrdom of civilians, including women and children. This act of aggression has also caused grave threat to commercial air traffic…We strongly condemn India’s cowardly action, which is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, international law, and established norms of inter-state relations.

“In the wake of Pahalgam attack, the Indian leadership has once again used the bogey of terrorism to advance its sham narrative of victimhood, jeopardising regional peace and security… India’s reckless action has brought the two nuclear-armed states closer to a major conflict...The situation continues to evolve…

Pakistan reserves the right to respond appropriately at a time and place of its choosing, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, and as enshrined in international law. The government, armed forces and people of Pakistan stand united in the face of Indian aggression. They will always act with iron resolve to protect and preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.”

Pakistani and Indian Directors General of Military Operations talked on 12th May, endeavouring to figure out solutions to a number of issues. Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Guterres welcoming the Indo-Pak truce, called it a positive step toward ending current hostilities and easing tensions.

He expressed the hope that the agreement would contribute to lasting peace and foster an environment conducive to addressing broader, longstanding issues between India and Pakistan. Secretary-General said that the UN stood ready to support efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

Pope Leo XIV, welcoming the Indo-Pak Truce, hoped the parlays would lead to a lasting accord between the nuclear-armed countries. It may be recalled that Secretary Marco Rubio spoke on 8th May to the Pakistani PM apropos worsening state of affairs at the border (post tourists’ massacre in IOK) and emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation. He expressed US support for direct Indo-Pak dialogue and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications.

Expressing sorrow for the reported loss of civilian lives in the current conflict, Secretary Marco Rubio reiterated his calls for Pakistan to take concrete steps to end any support for terrorist groups. Similarly, speaking to Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, he emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation.

Secretary Marco Rubio expressed US support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications. He reiterated his condolences for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism.

The skirmishes with Indian military claimed lives of 40 civilians (including 7 women/15 kids & 13 Pakistani soldiers (identified as Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar and Sepoy Nisar, Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq and Senior Technician Mubashir. PAF’s Sr.

Technician Muhammad Ayaz and Pak Army’s Havaldar Muhammad Naveed succumbed to their injuries ). 76 others, who got injured defending their motherland, are being provided the best possible medical treatment available. According to Pakistan Military, during retaliatory Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos:

1) Pakistan had destroyed BrahMos Storage site in Beas area of India.

2) Pakistan had destroyed airbases at Udhampur and Pathankot.

(All those bases in India which were used to attack Pakistani people and Masajids were targeted.)

3) Armed Forces had destroyed Brigade Headquarters, K G Top, while a supply depot in Uri had been annihilated completely.

4) Through a cyber attack, 70% electricity grid of India had been made dysfunctional
4) Udhampur airfield, from where missiles were fired on Sikhs in Amritsar (Indian Punjab) and other locations in Pakistan, had been hit.

5) Indian artillery gun position in Dehrangyari, BrahMos Storage site in Nagrota destroyed.

6) Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 Thunder hypersonic missiles destroyed India’s S-400 system in Adampur (valued at $1.5 billion).

7) India’s Sirsa Airfield had been destroyed.

8) The Indian Military Intelligence training centre in Rajouri, responsible for orchestrating terrorism in Pakistan, had been destroyed.

9) India’s Bathinda airfield had been destroyed.

10) Dharam Sal 1, Danna 1, and Table Top posts opposite the Neza Pir sector destroyed.

11) India’s Akhnoor Aviation Base had been destroyed.

12) Indian Bernala Airfield in IIOJK had been destroyed.

13) The Indian Army’s Brigade Headquarters in Bhimber Gali, IIOJK had been destroyed.

14) Pakistan Army had destroyed Indian posts directly opposite in the Phuklian sector.

15) Post, Danna Post, Khawaja Bhaik Complex and Ring Contour opposite Sankh along the LoC destroyed.

16) Halwara airfield had been destroyed.

17) Adampur, Bhatinda, Suratgarh, Mamun, Akhnoor, Jammu, Sirsa, and Barnala destroyed.

18) Rahtanwali Post, Jazeera Post Complex, Kafir Mehri, Shahpar 3, and Ghadar Top (situated on the LoC) destroyed.

19) An Indian Army’s artillery gun position has also been destroyed in Mankot (IOK).

20) A large number of Indian soldiers had been neutralised. Indian guns were silenced across the LoC.
