MAKKAH: 16,73,230 (including 115,000 Pakistani) pilgrims, clad in ahram, converged here on Wednesday (4th June, 2025) to perform tawaf (walking seven times around the Kaaba, as the mercury hits 40 degrees Celsius.
It is pertinent to mention here that this year 8,77,841 male and 7,59,389 female pilgrims performed Hajj.

Bewildered by the fact that last year extreme heat had claimed 1301 lives of the intended Hajis, the local government is attempting to make sure that the tragedy does not occur again. Forty KSA agencies and quarter million concerned personnel have been deployed to provide respite from the heat.

Meanwhile, KSA is using Drones and AI in order to enforce regulations and to apprehend violators of the laws (those performing Hajj sans permit).

KSA, that has been using modern tools, nabbed a number of pilgrims sans papier, who have been incarcerated and fined (upto SR 100,000). Following completion of imprisonment the violators would be sent back to their respected countries and face a re-entry ban for a decade.
