WHITE HOUSE: President Donald Trump, in order to ‘address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester’, has deployed 2000 National Guard troops on Saturday (7th June, 2025) as riots against (him and immigration raids by) ICE continues on second day.
According to Pete Hegseth, the Defence Secretary, Pentagon was ready to mobilise active-duty troops if riots did not stop. He warned that Marines at nearby Camp Pendleton were on high alert.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated: “The Trump Administration has a zero tolerance policy for criminal behavior and violence, especially when that violence is aimed at law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs.”
LA Governor Gavin Newsom held: “That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions…We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need.”
LA Mayor Karen Bass taking to the X maintained: “Everyone has the right to peacefully protest, but let me be clear: violence and destruction are unacceptable, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
