PARIS: Climate Minister of France, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, has called the prevailing heatwave an unprecedented situation.
According to details almost all the departments of the Hexagon are presently under an orange alert where hundreds of schools have been closed. Heat-warnings are also in place in Italy, Germany, UK and Croatia. It is pertinent to mention here that at the weekend Spain and Portugal had their hottest June days on record. Citoyens of these regions, facing 35 to 40 degrees C, are bracing for even higher temperatures.
South Asia: Due to climate change, people in South Asia too are experiencing intense heat during summer that arrived earlier. In many southern parts of Pakistan (including Sindh) temperatures augmented sharply on to 46-48 degrees C. Citoyens of Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are experiencing temperatures four to six degrees C above the normal.
