IAF to retire flying coffins in Sept

NEW DELHI: Indian Air Force is all set to formally replace ageing Russian MiG-21 fighter jets by indigenously developed Tejas Mk1As.

According to details the remaining MiGs that India still harbours are operated by IAF’s 23rd Squadron (Panthers). It is pertinent to mention here that due to deaths of 170 pilots and 40 civilians in MiG related accidents, the jet was called Flying Coffins.
