ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan stood by Iran for the acquisition of peaceful nuclear power here at the joint Presser held on Sunday (3rd August, 2025), during which he and President of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian spoke on various issues.
PM, while informing that a number of MoUs have been inked with Iran, stated: “I hope these will take the form of agreements very soon.” He told that Iran and Paksitan have set out a US$10 billion trade target.
PM condemned the attack by israel on Iran and lauded the support to the Palestinians extended by Tehran. President of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived here 2nd August on a two-day visit to Pakistan, expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Pakistan, that he said was his second home.
Earlier, while talking to Media at Tehran Airport President Pezeshkian said: “The objective of this trip is to boost commercial and economic ties…We believe that cross-border markets and connectivity can open new avenues for mutual cooperation.”
Maintaining, that attempts to undermine the Islamic unity between Pakistan and Iran would fail, he said his country hoped that bilateral trade volume could be raised to $10 billion.
While highlighting Iran’s interest in active participation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key component of the One Belt, One Road initiative he stated: “The OBOR project offers Iran an opportunity to connect with Europe.“
Dr Masoud Pezeshkian was accompanied by senior ministers and other high-ranking officials. During his stay here, he held delegation-level talks with PM Shehbaz Sharif. It was his first official visit to Islamabad as President of Iran.
