KP turmoil: Terrorists’ attacks claim 5 lives

KP: Unidentified militants’ simultaneous attacks, targeting Police personnel in the provincial capital, districts of Upper & Lower Dir here on Wednesday (13th August, 2025) have claimed lives of 5 cops.

In Upper Dir a police mobile van was stormed claiming 5 lives. In Peshawar, the terrorists’ strike on Hassan Khel Police Station was repelled. Nevertheless, one cop paid the ultimate sacrifice during the skirmish.

Another ambush on a checkpost in Lower Dir took live of one more constable. It has been estimated by the concerned authorises that 650 terrorists are lurking in the area to pounce at their targets all over KP.

On 8th Aug, unknown militants dropped explosives at FC’s Takhti Khel Bakakhel security checkpost, by means of quadrcopter drones, claiming life of a soldier and injuring three others. Those wounded were provided treatment at a nearby medical facility. Meanwhile, the FC and Police carried out an operation in order to nab the militants hiding in the area.

Following receipt of an intelligence report apropos presence of terrorists, authorities have imposed an indefinite curfew in Bannu’s Havid area. Presently, an operation is underway to eliminate the militants there. Warning was issued that anybody providing shelter to the terrorists would face legal consequences. The citoyens were told not to go out of their abodes post 5am till further notice.

Earlier, ISPR informed that five soldiers gave the ultimate sacrifice during the exchange of fire with militants: “On 4th March 2025, a cowardly terrorist attack was attempted on Bannu Cantonment by Khwarij elements. The assailants sought to breach the cantonment’s security; however, their nefarious designs were swiftly and decisively foiled”.

13 civilians (including women and children) lost their lives, whereas, thirty-one got injured due to explosions. While a mosque was damaged, roofs of nearby batiments caved in due to repercussions. Injured were provided treatment at District Headquarters Hospital.

Maintaining that the attack was orchestrated by Afghanistan-based militants, the interim government in Kabul had been told that Pakistan expected it to uphold its responsibilities and deny its soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan that reserves the right to take necessary measures.
