A would-be suicide bomber nabbed in Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan CM has informed the journalists at a Presser held here on Monday (18th August, 2025) that members of LEAs have nabbed a would-be suicide bomber before he could carry out an attack on 14th August congregations.

A confessional recorded statement of a lecturer at Balochistan University was played for the Media, in which nabbed man said that he had links with terrorist groups.

The terrorists have not only augmented the number of attacks but their modus operandi too have become modern. For instance, Militants’ IED attack here, between the night of 5th-6th August, has claimed lives of three Pak army troops. Militants detonated an IED, when the vehicle carrying Pak army soldiers was passing near it, claiming lives of 31-year-old Major Muhammad Rizwan Tahir r/o Narowal district, 37-year-old Naik Ibni Amin r/o Swabi district, and 33-year-old Lance Naik Muhammad Younas r/o Karak district.

Militants have relentlessly been attacking LEA personnel for a long time. For instance, on 18th July, unidentified militants attacked a Balochistan Constabulary convoy going from Kalat to Quetta, claiming two lives and injuring two others here.According to details the gunmen opened fire at Acting DSP Abdul Razzak’s vehicle on National Highway, near Mastung, killing him as well as Constable Raza Muhammad Jam. Constable Taj Muhammad and Constable Khursheed Ahmed sustained injuries. The dead and injured were taken to Quetta by means of a heli.

It may be recalled that on 1st of July, terrorists attacked Tehsil office, Bank and a number of Govt bureaus, injuring seven citizens and claiming life of a sixteen-year-old boy. Frontier Constabulary, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Levies Force personnel retaliated and gunned down two terrorists, injured three in the exchange of fire.
