Ukraine attacks Russia’s biggest NPP via drone

MOSCOW: While Kyiv was preoccupied on Sunday (24th August, 2025) with observing the 34th Independence Day, Russia accused it of attacking country’s Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, situated close to the border with Ukraine, by means of drones.

According to Russia, the overnight attack caused an incendie and damaged an auxiliary transformer. Moreover, at reactor number three 50% reduction in the operating capacity was noted. Moscow further claimed that Ukraine had also attacked a number of power and energy facilities.
