LAHORE: While floods in Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab have claimed seventeen lives, overall 1.46 million people have been affected by the surging waters.
This was the first time that all three Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab rivers overflowed simultaneously. According to details the current inundation is the worst Punjab faced in the last forty years. The deluge has destroyed 1400 villages and ruined grain crops worth billions of rupees.

Meteo warned that high flood level in Chenab at Marala measuring 769,481 cusecs could augment further. At Jassar, Ravi experienced a deluge of 202,200 cusecs of water. According to details the ongoing flow of 72,900 cusecs in Ravi at Shahdara could inundate the the Motorway-two and adjacent areas.

Meanwhile, a flow of 245,000 cusecs was noted in Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala. A flow of 100,355 had also been noted in Sutlej at Sulemanki area. Farmers, sharecroppers living along riverbanks and waterways had been advised to go to higher areas.
