French Embassy supports Pakistani artists

ISLAMABAD: The French Embassy in Pakistan has launched an initiative to support Pakistani artists and creative professionals by offering a call for projects in the field of
artistic residencies.

French Embassy program is open to a wide range of artistic disciplines, including dance, cinema, contemporary art, miniature painting, textile design, and other creative practices. It provides a unique opportunity for artists to expand their horizons, gain international exposure, and enrich their creative journey.

For this inaugural call, French Embassy has selected seven talented Pakistani artists to benefit from the program. Each of them will receive a one-month grant, enabling them to
travel to France and fully immerse themselves in an environment dedicated to creativity, collaboration, and exploration.

These artists will be welcomed by a variety of French cultural institutions that specialise in hosting residencies, offering them not only space and time to develop their projects but also access to professional networks, resources, and mentorship.

The program is designed to strengthen cultural ties between France and Pakistan by fostering meaningful connections among artists, institutions, and audiences from both countries. By supporting artistic exchange, the initiative creates an avenue for dialogue, innovation, and the co-creation of new projects.

Beyond the individual growth of the selected artists, this initiative has the potential to generate collaborations that extend well beyond the residency period, inspiring partnerships and joint cultural endeavours in the future.

Ultimately, the French Embassy’s call for artistic residencies reflects its commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy and supporting the creative sector in Pakistan. It celebrates the universality of art as a bridge between communities, while empowering artists to share their voices, tell their stories, and contribute to the global cultural landscape.

For 2025 grants, French Embassy has selected the following 7 talented Pakistani artists:

Feroza Hakeem (miniature and contemporary art)

Hamrah Abbas (contemporary art)

Hamzah Asad (fashion)

Khudaish “Taishi” Gulzar (hip-hop and contemporary dance)

Ahmer Farooq (contemporary art)
