48-hour Pak-Afghan ceasefire announced

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) stated Wed (15th Oct, 2025): “A temporary ceasefire has been decided between the Pakistani government and the Afghan Taliban regime, with the mutual consent of both parties, for the next 48 hours from 6pm today, at the request of the Taliban …during this period, both sides will make sincere efforts to find a positive solution to this complex but solvable issue through constructive dialogue.”

Afghan porte parole Zabihullah Mujahid took to the X to state: “At the request and insistence of the Pakistani side, the ceasefire between the two countries will begin after 5:30 PM today. The Islamic Emirate also directs all its forces to adhere to the ceasefire and not to violate it after 5:30 PM today unless there is a violation.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire after renewed fighting overnight that neutralised and injured dozens near Pakistan’s Chaman border. Pakistan Army stated: “The insinuations that the attack was initiated by Pakistan, are outrageous and blatant lies, just like the claims of capturing Pakistani posts or equipment…

The Armed Forces stand resolute and fully prepared to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.Pakistan Army retaliated when Afghan forces resorted to unprovoked firing here on Tuesday ( 14th Oct 2025).” According to Pak Army Porte Parole, Taliban regime’s posts were badly damaged and one of its tanks caught fire during the exchange of fire.
