LONDON: Pakistan High Comm here hosted a Networking Session for UK based companies and business fora for participation in Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition & Conference (PIMEC) 2025 being held in Karachi from 3rd to 6th November, 2025.
The Networking Session was attended by High Commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal; Defence & Naval Adviser, Commodore Jawad Khawaja SI(M); Attaché Defence Procurement, Capt. M Faisal Manzoor; Rashid Iqbal, CEO Pakistan – Britain Business Council (PBBC) UK, Captain Farrukh Shahzad, General Secretary Pakistan Britain Maritime Association (PBMA); Ricardo Passos and Mike Ruck, Directors of M/s COTESI, UK.
Also conspicuous in the Networking Session were Matthew Goodall, Director European Liner Agencies Ltd. UK; Ms. Sue Wade, Director LL&TS UK; Haider Lone, Director M/s Integrated Procurement Technology, Zafar Masood, Senior Desk Officer DBT UK; Muhammad Saleem Sabir, Vice President M/s International Registries Ltd; Shahroz Khan, Chief Executive M/s Compute Maritime; and officers of Pakistan High Commission, London.
At the Networking Session, addressing the ladies and gentlemen in the audience High Commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal said that Pakistan’s maritime sector offers huge opportunities for UK based investors and industry to invest and collaborate. HC highlighted that Pakistani coastal trade brings in nearly $7 billion a year which can grow significantly if this sector is developed up to optimum level.
The High Commissioner told the participants of the Networking Session that Gawadar Port can be utilized as transshipment hub for trade whereby, regional collaboration will pave way for social uplift of local community and national development. He urged UK companies to actively participate in PIMEC-25. Dr. Mohammad Faisal expressed hope that PIMEC 25 will serve as a launch pad for innovation, investment and mutual cooperation.
Defence & Naval Adviser, Commodore Jawad Khawaja SI (M) briefed the participants of the Networking Session about scope of PIMEC-25 and the potential of Blue Economy of Pakistan. Representatives of UK based companies also keenly took part in the proceedings of the Networking Session. They expressed that UK companies are looking forward to participate in PIMEC 25 and building long-term cooperation with public and private companies in Pakistan.
