It may be recalled that on 15th Oct, FO stated: “A temporary ceasefire has been decided between the Pakistani government and the Afghan Taliban regime, with the mutual consent of both parties, for the next 48 hours from 6pm today, at the request of the Taliban …during this period, both sides will make sincere efforts to find a positive solution to this complex but solvable issue through constructive dialogue.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire after renewed fighting overnight that neutralised and injured dozens near Pakistan’s Chaman border. Pakistan Army stated: “The insinuations that the attack was initiated by Pakistan, are outrageous and blatant lies, just like the claims of capturing Pakistani posts or equipment…
“The Armed Forces stand resolute and fully prepared to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.“Pakistan Army retaliated when Afghan forces resorted to unprovoked firing here on Tuesday ( 14th Oct 2025).” According to Pak Army Porte Parole, Taliban regime’s posts were badly damaged and one of its tanks caught fire during the exchange of fire.

Munir Akram, Pakistan’s envoy to UN, during UNSC briefing here has stated that Pakistan would continue to take all necessary measures to eliminate the terrorist threats to its national security in accordance with its right to self-defence under international law and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.
According to Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan had evidence that six thousand TTP fighters are presently operating from Afghanistan and the banned outfit’s cross-border attacks are not only tolerated but also supported by the interim Kabul government: “Pakistan has faced the adverse impacts of the series of crises Afghanistan has lived through, during the past 40 years — hosting millions of Afghan refugees, infected by its extremist groups and the inflow of arms and drugs.”
