Pakistan Afghanistan Agree To Ceasefire

DOHA: Following the two rounds of talks held here the Qatar’s Ministry of foreign Affairs took to the X on Saturday (19th October, 2025) to proclaim that Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to the ceasefire.

“Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree to an Immediate Ceasefire During a Round of Negotiations in Doha: A round of negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Afghanistan was held in Doha, mediated by the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye. During the negotiations, the two sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to consolidate lasting peace and stability between the two countries. The two parties also agreed to hold follow-up meetings in the coming days to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire and verify its implementation in a reliable and sustainable manner, thus contributing to achieving security and stability in both countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s hope that this important step will contribute to ending tensions on the border between the two brotherly countries and form a solid foundation for sustainable peace in the region.”

Delegation of Pakistan was led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, whereas, Afghan equipe was headed by Mullah Yaqoob (who is also wearing the hat of Afghan Defence Minister). The second round of talks will be held on 19th Oct in Doha, focusing on cross-border infiltration by Afghan-based militants.

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Ministry of Pakistan, taking to the X, had informed that high level delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan will hold talks to restore peace along the Pak-Afghanistan border.

In the first round of the parleys Pakistan told the Afghan delegation that the presence of militant groups in Afghanistan was unacceptable. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed a high-level delegation led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was in Doha to hold talks with representatives of the Afghan Taliban.

“A high-level delegation from Pakistan, led by our Minister of Defence, will hold discussions with representatives of the Afghan Taliban in Doha today. The talks will focus on immediate measures to end cross-border terrorism against Pakistan emanating from Afghanistan and restore peace and stability along the Pak-Afghan border.

“Pakistan does not seek escalation but urges the Afghan Taliban authorities to honour their commitments to the international community and address Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns by taking verifiable action against terrorist entities, including the FAK/TTP and FAH/BLA. Pakistan appreciates the mediation efforts of Qatar and hopes these discussions contribute to peace and stability in the region.”
