Pak – Afghanistan ceasefire to continue

ISTANBUL: Pakistan and the Afghanistan Taliban regime, that held talks here from 25th till 30th Oct, have agreed to uphold ceasefire.

According to a joint statement on the talks: “Further modalities of the implementation will be discussed and decided in a principal level meeting in Istanbul on 6 November 2025.” Foreign Office spokesman said on Friday (31st of Oct, 2025) at a Presser held in Islamabad that Pakistan participated in the Istanbul talks, which started on 25th Oct, in a good spirit and with a positive intention, FO remains hopeful for a“positive outcome from the next round of talks with the Afghan Taliban regime, scheduled to begin on 6th of November.

Joint statement of the talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan through the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar:

 1) Afghanistan, Pakistan, Türkiye and Qatar held meetings in Islamabad from 25-30 October 2025 aimed at solidifying the ceasefire which was agreed by Afghanistan and Pakistan in Doha on 18-19 October 2025 with the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar.

2) All parties have agreed on continuation of ceasefire.

3) Further modalities of the implementation will be discussed and decided in a Principal level meeting in Istanbul on 6 November 2025.

4) All parties have agreed to put in place a monitoring and verification mechanism that will ensure maintenance of peace and imposing penalty on the violating party.

5) As mediators, Türkiye and Qatar express their appreciation for the active contribution of both parties and stand ready to continue cooperation with both sides for lasting peace and stability.

It may be recalled that  following the two rounds of talks held in Doha Qatar’s Ministry of foreign Affairs took to the X on Saturday (19th October, 2025) to proclaim that Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to the ceasefire.

Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree to an Immediate Ceasefire During a Round of Negotiations in Doha: A round of negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Afghanistan was held in Doha, mediated by the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye. During the negotiations, the two sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to consolidate lasting peace and stability between the two countries.

“The two parties also agreed to hold follow-up meetings in the coming days to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire and verify its implementation in a reliable and sustainable manner, thus contributing to achieving security and stability in both countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s hope that this important step will contribute to ending tensions on the border between the two brotherly countries and form a solid foundation for sustainable peace in the region.”
