PESHAWAR: An incendie due to short circuit at the armoury of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Police Station here on Sunday (2nd Nov, 2025) morning has detonated obsolete explosives, the resultant blast claimed lives of two officials.
CCPO Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad informed that the blast had also injured two people who were being provided medical treatment at nearby medical facilities. Ruling out any possibility of terrorism, he told: “Preliminary assessment shows that an explosion occurred due to the detonation of old explosive material stored in the police station’s ammunition room. Fire has also spread to other ammunition, causing further explosions.”
While terrorists incessantly attack LEAs personnel in KP and Balochistan, due to insufficient safety measures and human negligence such incidents have happened earlier too. For instance, a similar type of blast occurred on 26th Sept last year at Swabi City Police Station, when six hundred kgs of explosives (stored on the second floor of the building) exploded claiming lives of 3 cops and injuring 24 others. The batiment was completely destroyed but despite the passage of two years has not yet been constructed.
