LONDON: SP John Loveless (from British transport Police) while talking to journalists Sunday (2nd Nov, 2025) morning at a Presser held here about mass-stabbing on UK train a day earlier, told that a 32-year-old (black British) man has been taken into custody in suspicion of attempted murder.
According to details, on 1st Nov. evening (7.42PM) voyagers (travelling from London North Eastern Railway train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross) were attacked near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The suspect boarded the train at Peterborough. Due to mass-stabbing 11 people got wounded and taken to hospital. Nine victims have been discharged, while doctors are attempting to save the life of a gravely wounded passenger. Knife used to stab 10 voyagers has also been recovered from the scene.
Police are not treating the random stabbing of ten people on a train as terrorism related at this point.

SP John Loveless informed: “At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident…We continue to work to establish the full circumstances and motivation for this incident…It would not be appropriate to speculate on the cause.” Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy stated: “Our investigation is moving at pace and we are confident we are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident…As would be expected, specialist detectives are looking into the background of the suspect we have in custody and the events that led up to the attack.”
Previous Attacks: In 2017 a number of such incidents were recorded in UK. Last October too a synagogue was attacked that claimed three lives. A Mosque here has been torched by two arsonists with a couple of namazis still inside, at 9.50 PM (UK time) on 5th Oct, days after a fatal attack on a Synagogue. During the probe it transpired that two arsonists sprinkled fuel at the door of the mosque (situated on Phyllis Avenue, ) and torched the batiment.
A Toyota Prius at the entrance too caught fire and turned into a fireball when its fuel tank exploded. Footage also features a namazi escaping from the burning inferno.Sussex Police, talking to the Media at a Presser held here on 15th Oct: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and we are urging anyone with relevant information to report it to us. This includes anyone with CCTV, ring doorbell, dashcam, and mobile phone footage in the area at the time.
“We understand the concerns this has caused within the community, and the impact that will be felt by the Muslim community as a result. There is already an increased police presence at the scene and there are also additional patrols taking place to provide reassurance at the places of worship across the county. Sussex Police takes a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime and there is no place for hate across the county.” Police have released images of two men, who would , which is being treated as a hate crime.
