ISTANBUL: The 3rd round of Pak-Afghan talks Sat (8th Nov) here are at a deadlock due to fierce border clashes.
It is pertinent to mention here that Afghan officials have accused Pak government of killing four civilians and injuring five others during clashes at the border, while delegations were busy in parleys here. Taking to the X, Pakistani Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, claimed that troops responded in a measured and responsible manner, retaliating to the unprovoked firing that was initiated by Afghan forces on 6th November.
Earlier, Pakistan and the Afghanistan Taliban regime, that held talks in Istanbul, from 25th till 30th Oct, had agreed to uphold ceasefire. According to a joint statement on the talks: “Further modalities of the implementation will be discussed and decided in a principal level meeting in Istanbul on 6 November 2025.”
Foreign Office spokesman said on 31st of Oct, at a Presser held in Islamabad that Pakistan participated in the Istanbul talks, which started on 25th Oct, in a good spirit and with a positive intention, FO remains hopeful for a positive outcome from the next round of talks with the Afghan Taliban regime, scheduled to begin on 6th of November.

Joint statement of the talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan through the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar:
1) Afghanistan, Pakistan, Türkiye and Qatar held meetings in Islamabad from 25-30 October 2025 aimed at solidifying the ceasefire which was agreed by Afghanistan and Pakistan in Doha on 18-19 October 2025 with the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar; 2) All parties have agreed on continuation of ceasefire; 3) Further modalities of the implementation will be discussed and decided in a Principal level meeting in Istanbul on 6 November 2025;

4) All parties have agreed to put in place a monitoring and verification mechanism that will ensure maintenance of peace and imposing penalty on the violating party; 5) As mediators, Türkiye and Qatar express their appreciation for the active contribution of both parties and stand ready to continue cooperation with both sides for lasting peace and stability.
Skirmishes: Pakistan Army retaliated when Afghan forces resorted to unprovoked firing on 14th Oct 2025. According to Pak Army Porte Parole, Taliban regime’s posts were badly damaged and one of its tanks caught fire.
