27th Amendment: SC judges resign

ISLAMABAD: Reacting to the President’s signing of 27th Constitutional Amendment bill into law Supreme Court Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah tendered their resignations here on Thursday (13th November, 2025).

According to Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, 27th Amendment was a grave assault on the Constitution of Pakistan. He maintained that the amendment dismantled the SCP subjugates the judiciary to executive control and struck at the cey haear of Pakistan’s Consititutional Democracy.

In his letter to the president Thursday (13th November, 2025), Justice Shah assailed the amendment as a grave assault on the Constitution of Pakistan that dismantled the SCP, subjugated the judiciary to executive control, and strikes at the very heart of Pakistan’s constitutional democracy. In a correspondence , addressed to president, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah noted that by fracturing the unity of the nation’s apex court , it had crippled judicial independence and integrity , pushing Pakistan back by decades.
