GENEVA: Following the brainstorming session (involving decision -makers from US, EU and Ukraine), held here on Sunday (23rd Nov, 2025), to ponder over 28-Point Trumpian Peace Plan, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Vladimir Putin’s demand apropos ceding territory remained the main problem.
Ukraine and USA officials reported important steps sans deciphering the nature of progress made during the meeting. Savants at the helm of affairs are expecting a Zelinskyy-Trump rendezvous soon, during which the controversial issues will be discussed.
It may be recalled that US President Donald Trump had set 27th Nov, 2025 a deadline for Kyiv to approve his plan, which includes:
i) Ukraine ceding territory ;
ii) Ukraine reducing the size of its army; and
iii) Ukraine pledging never to join NATO.
European allies of Ukraine, who were never consulted apropos drafting of the Trumpian Plan, hold that it requires additional work. President Zelensky stated: “In the coming days, consultations will take place with partners regarding the steps needed to end the war. Our representatives know how to defend Ukraine’s national interests and what is necessary to prevent Russia from launching a third invasion.”
Nevertheless, U-Trump had gone from his 27th Nov deadline to saying that (28-Point Peace Plan) was not a final offer. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Robio stated that the 28-point Trumpian draft provided a strong framework for ongoing negotiations.
Rejecting the plan of foreign troops’ deployment in Ukraine under the umbrella of post-truce security guarantee, Vladimir Putin has warned on 5th Sept that foreign troops would be a legitimate target of Russian military.
“If some troops appear there, especially now during the fighting, we proceed from the premise that they will be legitimate targets,” Putin forewarned. “If decisions are reached that lead to peace, to long-term peace, then I simply do not see any sense in their presence on the territory of Ukraine,” Putin maintained.
On 3rd of August the Mayor of Sochi had reported that the massive oil depot fire, caused by a Ukrainian drone attack overnight, had been put off on 3rd of August, 2025. Furthermore, the governor of Krasnodar region had informed that the incendie commenced when the fuel tank was hit by the Ukraine drone’s debris. However, the blaze was contained by 127 firefighters. Meanwhile, the flights remained suspended for a while at the nearby airport.
