NATIONAL STADIUM (KARACHI): US Consul General Charles Goodman attended the USA vs. Sri Lanka Over-40s T20 World Cup Cricket match here on Sunday (23rd Nov, 2025), to support Team USA and celebrate the unifying power of sports.
He joined more than 500 US government-supported English Access students from all over the Sindh to experience the excitement of Pakistan’s popular sport.
Consul General Goodman joined veteran sports reporters for a pre-game discussion and delivered live commentary from the stadium’s box. Following Team USA’s victory, Consul General Goodman congratulated the players, presented trophies, and commended the Sri Lankan team’s efforts. He noted that sporting events like these foster stronger connections and bring people together.
The International Masters Cricket Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup brings together 12 international teams competing in 42 matches across five venues in Karachi from 21st November to 1st of December. Organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, the tournament reunites former test and first-class players.
Team USA, led by Captain Muhammad Farrukh and Vice-Captain Zeshan Muhammad, continues to elevate cricket’s profile in the United States. Team USA’s participation also contributes to the United States’ “Mega Decade of Sports,” including the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and enhances U.S. cricket’s visibility on the global stage.
Consul General Goodman emphasized that “Sports have the power to unite people across borders, cultures, and communities. The US Mission in Pakistan proudly supports programs that connect youth and strengthen partnerships, as seen in today’s USA–Sri Lanka cricket match.”

قونصل جنرل گُڈمن نے میچ سے قبل سینئر اسپورٹس رپورٹرز کے ساتھ گفتگو کی اور اسٹیڈیم کے کمنٹری باکس سے براہِ راست تبصرہ بھی کیا۔ ٹیم یو ایس اے کی کامیابی کے بعد انہوں نے کھلاڑیوں کو مبارکباد دی، ٹرافیاں تقسیم کیں، اور سری لنکن ٹیم کی کارکردگی کو بھی سراہا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس قسم کے کھیل نہ صرف تعلقات کو فروغ دیتے ہیں بلکہ لوگوں کو ایک دوسرے کے قریب لانے کا باعث بنتے ہیں۔

PS: A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Charles Goodman brings extensive experience to his new role as the Consul General of USA in the Port City of Karachi. Most recently, he served as the Management Counselor for the US Mission to New Zealand and Samoa. Prior to that, he held the positions of Management Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Pristina, Kosovo. His distinguished career includes leading the logistics team in the Executive Office of the Secretary and serving as Deputy Director of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section in Lima, Peru. Goodman’s other postings have included assignments in Latvia, Georgia, and Argentina, showcasing his global expertise. He also served in Lahore, Pakistan from 2011 to 2012. Before joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 2006, Goodman spent 20 years in the private sector, holding leadership roles in financial services, real estate, and technology. He holds an MBA from Duke University and a B.S. in Information Systems from the University of Tampa. His diverse background and leadership experience position him to further enhance the Pak-US partnership, with a focus on fostering economic growth, trade and security cooperation, and people-to-people ties between citizens of the United States and Pakistanis in Sindh and Balochistan. Goodman is committed to advancing US priorities that promote a safer, stronger, and more prosperous America, while also strengthening the Pak-US relationship.
