Trump to pause migration from poor nations

WASHINGTON: Reacting to the death of West Virginia National Guard’s 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, who was shot dead by an Afghan near White House, President Donald Trump vowed on Thanksgiving (28th November, 2025) that he would pause migration from poor countries.

President Trump vows to permanently pause migration from poor countries

Taking to his Social Media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States.”

Earlier, Trump posted: “The animal that shot the two National Guardsmen, with both being critically wounded, and now in two separate hospitals, is also severely wounded, but regardless, will pay a very steep price. God bless our Great National Guard, and all of our Military and Law Enforcement. These are truly Great People. I, as President of the United States, and everyone associated with the Office of the Presidency, am with you!”

President Donald Trump, terming the attack as an act of terror, said he would “take steps to remove foreigners from any country who does not belong here”. Meanwhile, US has suspended processing of all immigration cases filed by Afghans. Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who was shot and nabbed by authorities, was granted asylum in April, 2025. It is pertinent to mention here that tens of thousands of Afghans (working for US forces in Kabul) fled to USA under special immigration protections when Americans withdrew from under Joe Biden.
