27th Convocation of NED University held

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that a University not only imparts higher education but also conducts research and development which have a direct impact on the national growth and economy.
Addressing the convocation of NED University of Engineering  & Technology at the main campus of the university here on Saturday, he said NED, with its qualified faculty and strong administrative infrastructure, has been at the forefront of research endeavors and contributing to Pakistan’s economy.
The Governor while appreciating the role of NED in imparting education and conducting research said that the university has responded to many national challenges in a very pro-active way like setting up of a Water Institute and the establishment of National Incubation Center.
Extending congratulation to the students, the Governor said that the students who have pursued their studies with hard work and dedications the convocation is, no doubt, a rewarding moment for them and pride for the parents and teachers too, whose guidance and support enabled them to achieve this milestone.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was the guest of honor on the occasion. Some 1885 candidates received their Degrees of Bachelors and  Masters whereas 4 Scholars were awarded Ph.D. Degrees.

USEFP announces programme to increase skills of Pakistani English teachers

ISLAMABAD: United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has announced Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) a nine month state degree programme for the Pakistani English teachers to increase their teaching skills.
According to the sources on Friday, FLTA is a nine-month, U.S. Department of State funded, non-degree program that provides young teachers of English an opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States.
The programme is also provided an opportunity to Pakistani students for teaching in their native language to U.S. students and strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities.
Fulbright FLTA participants also interact with their host communities in conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects. Fulbright FLTA participants must immediately return to their home countries upon completion of the program.
The duration of the course was 9-10 months and the studies would be started by Fall next year.
The teacher of the English language or a related field at the college or university level would be able to apply for the USEFP programme.  The last date to apply for the programme was July 16, 2019.
It is worth mentioning here that the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is a bi-national commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, with the Chair alternating between a Pakistani and an American. USEFP is one of 51 ‘Fulbright Commissions’ located throughout the world.

World Memory Sports UK: Pak Team Wins Big in its Debut Performance

LONDON: Students of Institute of Human Memory Development took part in 2019 U.K. Open Championships organized by World Memory Sports Council here.

Students were trained by the Institute of Human Memory Development (www.ihmd.co) and the entire trip was sponsored by Consultants for Our Future World (Pvt) Ltd. (www.cofw.co)

Three Championships that were held back-to-back in London, were the Speed-Reading Championship, Mind Mapping Championship, and the Memory Championship.

The Pakistan Team was amongst competitors from 13 countries (Pakistan, China, India, Russian, England, Wales, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey & Australia). With the best competing against each other, Pakistan was able to bring back home 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze Medals. A proud moment of celebration as Pakistan was represented on an international platform.
