Pak, UK agree to finalize new Development Partnership Agreement




ISLAMABAD: Secretary of State for International Development United Kingdom, Ms. Justin Greening called on Finance Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar at Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two discussed exchanged views on different aspects of international development and discussed Pak-UK economic cooperation.

Matters pertaining to commence formal discussions for finalizing a new Development Partnership Agreement (DPA) between the Pakistan and UK for the next ten years were also discussed on the occasion.

According to Finance Ministry, the current DPA (2006-6) is due to expire in September 2016.

On the occasion, Ishaq Dar acknowledged the support of development partners including the UK Department for International Development (DFID) for economic reform initiatives of the government.

Referring to the Pak-UK trade partnerships, Ms. Greening said that the UK is a long-time partner of Pakistan and would continue to support the reform initiatives aimed at enhancing economic growth and development.

She said that the improvements in security situation are also visible and encouraging.
