Kohli the ultimate example for Pakistan cricketers: Dean Jones




MELBOURNE: Dean Jones, former Australian batsman said on Monday that Indian ace batsman Virat Kohli is the ultimate example for Pakistani players.

In an interview, Jones surged Pakistani players to follow Virat Kohli’s example if they aim to put up consistent performances for their country.

“Kohli is the level that the Pakistani cricketers like Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq need to get to,” said Jones.

Referring to Kohli’s healthy conditions and fitness, Jones said: “Just look at the example of Virat Kohli. He’s lifting 150kg weights. The guy has a body fat of less than 8%.”

“Pakistanis should work on their fielding aspects and their attitude to every aspect of their game,” Jones added.

Dean Jones further said that he doesn’t believe that too many Pakistani cricketers are athletes.

“Pakistani cricketers need to take care of their bodies and consider it as ‘their temple’,” he said.

Kohli has been India’s standout performer since his debut in 2008 and has played match-winning knocks on numerous occasions.

Earlier, the Indian batsman revealed that he is not fit enough and wants to become the best athlete in the world.

Though Kohli is fittest Indian cricketer around but he is not happy with that. He says he wants to work on his fitness to become the champion of all.

“I have worked immensely on my fitness, especially strength, and the results of that are quite visible,” Kohli said. “But I am not happy still; I have to become the best athlete in the world.”

Lauding Kohli’s remarks, India and RCB fitness coach Shankar Basu said: “A lot of athletes will say that they are very lucky to find a coach, but I will instead say that Virat Kohli is an exceptional person, so I was very lucky to have an athlete like him. My association with him dates back to eight years through IPL.”

Basu said that Kohli is a supremely fit batsman and he has the ability to remain fit in every game.

“Virat has decided to become the best athlete in the world and sky is the limit. I found an athlete who was ready to go through the grind and work hard consistently whenever the need arose. He is very good with his nutrition plans and discipline factors,” Basu went on to say.
