Uninstall Chrome if you want better battery life on laptop, says Microsoft

CALIFORNIA: If you want a better battery life on your laptop, just follow a simple step- ‘Uninstall Google Chrome’.

Yes! That’s it. According to Microsoft, using its Edge browser saves 50 percent more battery life than Google Chrome and any other browser.

The company on Tuesday claimed that Chrome is a big battery guzzler.

“Our tests show Microsoft Edge is a more energy-efficient browser on Windows 10, with up to 36%-53% more battery life to get what you need done -whether you’re studying at the library, researching dream vacation destinations, or checking in with your friends on social networks,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

The company added: “Google browser loves hogging the RAM. Whether you have 8GB RAM in your laptop or 16GB, Chrome is so aggressive that it likes to garner as much RAM as possible, making even the high-end laptops sluggish.”

According to a survey conducted earlier in May, Google Chrome was ranked as the poorest browser by the users. The survey indicated that even on Apple computers, Chrome was less efficient than Apple’s own Safari browser.

Last year, when the company launched the version 45 of the browser it claimed that the new application would consume vastly less resources and will improve the battery life of laptops.

However, according to Microsoft tests, Google’s last year improvements are not enough. Chrome is fairly awesome but it remains a browser that guzzles through the battery in a laptop.
