40 pupils fall in river as bridge collapses

MUZAFFARABAD: At-least 40 students of a medical college from Punjab today went missing when a hanging bridge on a river near Kutin area of Neelum Valley collapsed due to overweight, local administration said.

An official told that three bodies were taken out of the river. Six persons had also been rescued alive so for while more than 20 students had gone missing.

Students from Faisalabad Medical College were on a tour of Neelum valley when they gathered at a pedestrian bridge in Kutin, some 190 kilometers of here, it collapsed down due to overweight.

A control room had been established at Muzaffarabad to deal with the tragedy, the official added.

Eight of the rescued students were injured and airlifted to Muzaffarabad in a military helicopter for medical aid.
