  440 pound fish sold for 117000 US dollars

 

TOKYO: President of a chain of sushi restaurants Kiyoshi Kimura has purchased a 440 pound bluefin tuna for 117 thousand US dollars here on Wednesday.

A couple of years ago Kimura has paid US $ 1.76 million for a 489 pound fish .

On the first Saturday in January, connoisseurs converge at Tsukiji fish Market here to bid at the bluefin auction.

This is viewed by many as exploitation of natural resources.
