5.9 magnitude earthquake jolts several cities of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Strong earthquake of 5.9 magnitude felt on Friday in Islamabad, many sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the initial reports, “Islamabad, Lahore, Abbottabad, Sawat, Malakand division and tribal belt among the areas where earthquake shocks have been reported”.

According to the seismic monitoring centers reports, epicenter of the quake is Hindu Kush region with the depth of 175km.

Reports from Kohat, Gilgit, and FATA areas have also confirmed the quake jolts.

Many buildings in Islamabad and Lahore evacuated after the shocks.

No loss or casualty has been reported yet in any area of the country.
